Patients read reminders on the go. Give them the who, when and where, plus one way to confirm or change.
- The patient's name
- The doctor's name and the clinic or hospital name
- Date and time of the appointment
- The address with a map link, plus the floor or reception when needed
- An appointment ID or token number
- What to bring: ID, earlier reports, prescriptions
- Preparation, such as fasting, when the visit needs it
- A way to confirm, cancel or reschedule: a reply word, link or phone number

Start with the patient's name, the doctor and the clinic. Give the date, time and address, then what to bring. End with a reply option to confirm or reschedule. Keep it under 300 characters and leave out anything about the reason for the visit.
When should a medical appointment reminder be sent?
Twice works best: one the day before, with a reply option to confirm, and one about two hours before, with the map and the reception details. For visits booked weeks ahead, also send a confirmation at booking time. Clinics that send both see fewer empty slots.

What should I not include in a patient reminder?

Yes. Most no-shows are patients who forgot, or who could not come and did not tell the clinic. A reminder with a reply option catches both. Patients confirm, or they cancel and you fill the slot from the waiting list. A second reminder on the day also cuts late arrivals.
Should a dental clinic send reminders for check-ups?
Yes. Send a recall message when the six-month check-up or cleaning is due, with two slot options and a reply to book. Follow up after a week if there is no reply. Recall messages keep regular patients coming back without calls from the front desk.
Do I need the WhatsApp Business API for clinic reminders?
